Environmentally Friendly Vendors
California Design Center/Studio C Interiors is committed to supporting and promoting those companies that are environmentally focused. We are a founding Member of the Forest Stewardship Council. We believe that the use of sustainable materials, recycled or environmentally certified woods, and the use of resources that are the byproduct of other industries all help in our effort to go green. We believe in quality furniture that is meant to last, not goods that will quickly end up in our landfills because of poor materials or workmanship. The following is just a few of the many environmentally friendly manufacturers that we carry.
Jason Scott
Jason Scott has been practicing exquisite craftsmanship since 1995. His hand carved and constructed creations are stunning and truly a piece to call your own. Jason Scott has mastered their techniques and searched for the best woodcarvers known to man. With such detailed work, they are able to create miraculous pieces through the use of recycled teak wood that they find from abandoned structures.
Four Hands
Four Hands has been in production since 1996, and has since then been working toward environmentally friendly and sustainable products. They are a Sustainable Furniture Council founding member. This Eco-Chic company is dedicated to finding resources and materials that are all recycled.
Their woods, metals, and other furnishing materials are all recycled, whether it be a byproduct or antique. One of their key woods in production is the mango. This wood is a fast growing hardwood that is planted for fruit production. The mango wood is then used for furniture production after the fruit yields decline, and new trees are planted in their place.
Oios Metal
Oios Metal has been constructing extraordinary creations strictly in America for many years. They are dedicated to creating and using techniques that promote green and environmentally friendly product. Their designs are made up of 98% recycled
materials, making it a great sustainable option for your home. A few more reasons they are an eco-friendly company: their metals can be fully recycled, all wood that they use is produced from recycled wood pallets that are used for shipping, the surface of their unique metal designs can be refinished an unlimited amount of times, they use recycled packaging products for shipping, they consolidate their shipping to reduce the amount for fuel used, and they are always continuing in their research to find new and innovative ways of producing product that is good for the environment.
Equator
Equator has been using recycled lumber products to hand make their exquisite furniture pieces since 1987. Techniques such as uniquely painting pieces, which consist of antique lumber, designed hardware, and rigorous finishing, allow Equator to produce furnishings that have a true heirloom appearance. One of their amazing acts of being environmentally friendly is that they purchased a 200 year old bridge in Brazil that was going to be torn down, and decided to use the antique lumber from the bridge to make all of their pieces. This is a great company that continues to find materials in the most intriguing places, and truly strive to help the environment.
Sweet Smiling Home
Sweet Smiling Home uses reclaimed and recycled wood. They find their recycled products from old house beams, railway ties, rice storage containers, and many more remarkable sources. The old world gives a character that only years of use can produce. They also use old fruit trees after they no longer bear fruit. All their new teak, mahogany, and acacia are plantation grown and sustainable. In addition to their wood products, they are introducing accessories fabricated from woven recycled newspapers. Sweet Smiling Home carries pieces that are something to talk about.
Jay Scott
Jay Scott is a local artist in Arizona that we showcase throughout our showroom. He has been creating his beautiful artwork for over ten years. His one of a kind pieces are a great element to add a bit of color and jazz to your home. He has found great passion not only in creative distinctive pieces of art, but found a passion to salvage materials that he uses to paint. His canvases are recycled drop cloths that he originally uses when he creates his great works. This is a great and innovative technique that Jay Scott has become known for.
